I have a new top end in my 89 50 and a brand new 20mm carb kit from t.c.r. I had a rad shop reline my tank and I have a new petthingy valve that I have to install. The screws for the petthingy valve I don,t have, and when I looked up the part in the book it had said {spcl shape} so I am assuming that this means some type of special screw that I would have to purchase from Yamaha.? I purchased this bike in March and it had the top end rebuilt with 0 miles I have just been trying to add parts as my budget allows and I am getting closer to being able to fire it up. I still need to aquire a pipe that will compliment the carb and air intake. If some could give me the info on how to properly bleed the oil injection pump that would be great. M y idea was to mix premix fuel and add a little to the tank and then once the bike is running hold a cup under the injector at the output line that attaches to the intake on the carb and run it untill the oil ran steady.? thanks tholme1

The screws on my petthingy valve are just phillips heads. I would just find some that are the right tread. I dont think they have to come from yamaha, unless you just wanna spend extra money. I would recomend removing the oil injection and just premixing your gas. That way you dont have to worry about priming the pump, or if the pump goes out. You can buy a block off kit for the oil pump or make one.

If you decide to do the Block-Off, Just remember that its a real pain in the ass to run out of gas & have no way to refill. (Keep a 4 oz botle of oil next to your batery just in case.) To do the block-off youll also need a side cover gasket, as youll need to pull it off to remove the gear. (if you have it that far apart Id check & replace the clutch if needed & replace the kick seal also) As for any gane, its so microscopic youll never even know.
I can try to get you the prober bleeding info. I dont have a PDF version of the repair manual, but do have the book. Im not sure you way would work or not.
Yes as for the Petthingy bolts theu are 6mm screws & about 1/2" long.

thanx guys for the info. I want to keep my injector pump as I do not want to premix at this point. Airdreams if you are still in need of my hand rail for the rear end I would be willing to give it to you for the price it would cost me to ship it to you. As i will be picking your brain for some more info in the near future. thanx tholme1

Do you still have the JDM headlight? I asked Jun what his last couple sold for on ebay & he said $25 to $32. Let me know if you still have it & would sell it in that range...
