anyone have good experience a certain kind/brand of 12v gel cell battery for a total loss system?
i will be running one battery with switches for on/off headlight....most of the riding will be during the day where the brake light and turns signals will be used (all LED lightin - more efficient)
i will be also using a battery tender so that i can plug it in to charge everynite.
or should i jus use a big battery like the one in my 600rr....problem is i have no where to mount it with my exhaust running under the seat.

It has a 55w halogen light. (because its a computer backup battery it holds a charge for a longer period than other types.) It will be a few days because its at a friends house. (Its on a Schwinn OCC chopper bicycle, completely modified! It has won several trophies. ;D)

The turn signals and tail/brake light are the simple, go to your nearset auto store and buy the 12v bulbs. Just match the socket portion of the bulb with the 6v bulb. As for a headlamp, 2 ways. 1) is to buy a JDM headlamp and bulb thru Jun Sawamura [jun@jtrading.net]. He often imports bike stuff from Japan. 2) Using a solder iron, melt the solder that secures the YSR bulb to the lamp enclosure. From what I am told, the bulb will drop inside the housing. You'll need to drill out the hole large enough to remove the bulb. Go to your auto store, and purchase the type of socket that allows you to replace the bulbs. Someone suggested using the turn signal bulbs. But, imo, I wouldn't think the bulb would be bright enough. Keep in mind, I have never dont this method. This is from what I recall of the instructions (posted on YSR50.com). sorry might be a stupid question but how exactly would one go about changing to a 12v setup? on a ysr from the stock 6v

I have done the headlight conversion. I went to the cycle salvage yard & got a broken headlight from a old 70's yamaha trail/ enduro bike (about $5.) I then removed the socket, using a dremal with a grinding wheel. just grind the inner flange that is folded & the socket will fall off. As for the YSR headlight- I melted the solder, then carefuly broke the glass lightbulb, dumped the glass out, dremaled out the hole slightly, & dumped the metal part of the bulb. Wash all the particals & let it all dry. To instal the new socket I used JB weld on the second one (JB weld can take heat- about 800 degrees.) I did solder the first one I did, but it was way more of a hasle.. Last change out the electrical conection part of the socket. Works perfect! New headlight bulbs are now about $4!!!!

OK, here is all the info from the battery I used.
EVERON EVA 12 - 5F 12V 5AH AGM
"sealed non-split battery" is printed on the botom of the battery.
Sorry for all the delay. (My bicycles are not in Idaho so it has been hard to get the chance to go look at them.) Finaly got my friend to go to the storage & remove the batery & give me the info.
