Recently acquired a 1977 Honda z50 monkey bike. It was in pretty bad shape. Still is but I'm trying to work on it slowly. Rear tire was stuffed full of garden hose. And the wheel was rotted away. So I got a decent replacement. It was leaking from the kick shaft and shift shaft along with the counter sprocket shaft. So I got all new seals for that. The rear wheel bearings were almost completely shot so I put in a brand new set of all balls bearings in that. Rear brakes were not working at all and the lever was rested in place. I got that freed up and I got the rear brakes working again. Still need to get an adjuster nut. Front brakes were not working but I've got them up in functioning. Still need to get the proper bolt for the brake lever. There was no kickstand so I got one of those off ebay. Of course it didn't come with the spring and it didn't quite fit right but I made it work. The exhaust pipe after the muffler was broken off and gone. So I just welded a piece of pipe to it. Maybe not the right way to do it but pretty unlikely that I would ever find the right part or a damaged one that I could scavenge the parts off of. So for now this is going to work. Carburetor was torn down into pieces and over 50% of it missing. So put on a cheap Chinese one. There was no airbox so I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with that part. But I now have them functioning. Still need to tear them down and do everything properly. Pretty sure I'm going to need to do a valve adjustment. Also needed a spark plug, points and condenser. Bought those and got them installed and actually got it to fire up.
Need to figure out a way to get photos added here. Photobucket is no longer an option and I'm not sure what hosting site to use. As soon as I get that figured out I'll get pictures added
