I picked up a YSR a few months ago after getting to try out a YSR and NSR at Grange in April this year. I liked the NSR far more, but the combination of not being able to afford the NSR and the fact that the YSR will teach me more didn't make me worry too much about it (actually, non at all). So even though I had access to several different bikes that day, I spent 99% of the time on a beat up YSR since I knew going into it that that was my best option. No regrets. I lose every race, but I blame that on the rider This bike is all stock and runs fantastic. The aftermarket body work was thrashed so I did some quick repairs and some spray paint to make it look a little better, put my number on it, and have been to the races with CMRRA every month since then. I am hoping to keep the YSR class alive, even if they are old, poor handling and under powered, they still have life left on the track I think. Anyone want to race with me? Or are you all going to leave me with the sharks on thier NSR's?

Hey Sidewalk! Manimal here from Barf *waves hand*.....Welcome to the YSR site Unfortunatley, our YSR "stock" class here (SMRRC) is almost extinct. The YSR class has dropped completely from our list of classes, because the lack of participants. *cry* Those that had raced them from the previous year, either dropped out to buying a new home or to track/race BIG bikes, or sold the YSR and bought an NSR or a race GP bike (80cc). Currenlty, we only have one YSR racer that has been showing up for race day, and being there is no YSR class (Stock), is obligated to race in the Formula 50 class against the NSR's.....I feel bad for him. Altho', I give him BIG props! he knows how to handle that lil (stock) YSR. My last battle with him, it took me a few laps to over take him *thumbup* Now, it makes me wish I had a YSR to race with, just so I can keep the class alive.

I have been able to successfully keep up with most of the NSR's now. The CMRRA allows for a 60 bore, or you can put a pipe and carb on with the 50 piston. The 60 kit is still down on power, but not a lot. The pipe and carb allowance seems to be about right, but it is hard to tell because the only person I know riding one is a kid. With enough effort on skill, it seems to be possible to keep up with the NSR. I am about mid to front pack with the novices now (not the slow novices either ). Leonard Mellgren can actually beat the majority of the exprt NSR riders on his stock 50 YSR. But, he is the exception, not the rule. I still think the YSR is a better learning tool.
