Nice! Last time I've seen a YSR in Oahu was back in the early 90's. Where abouts on the island are located? What caused the motor to seize and have you learned anything to keep it from happening again?.....so that we/I can provide you what info is needed to keep that baby running ps, I'll be visiting come December..........so looking forward to it Aloha..........braddah

right on. i think there are only a handfull of street legal ysr's on this island. have i learned anything? yea, i found out you can max out your bike for about a mile before your back tire locks up and better pull the clutch in RIGHT after it does that. also, i'm staying in the right lane next time!! sucks trying to cut over 3 lanes with cars flying by you 70+

"yea, i found out you can max out your bike for about a mile before your back tire locks up and better pull the clutch in RIGHT after it does that. also, i'm staying in the right lane next time!! sucks trying to cut over 3 lanes with cars flying by you 70+".............LOL Here's what you need to do, on long runs like that, you need to vary the throttle .....on the gas, get off a little bit, then back on (repeat as necessary) or periodically, pull in the clutch blip the throttle a few times, then get back on the gas. Doing this will help lubricate the cylinder. The air cooled motor can't handle long periods of WOT (wide open throttle). It loves to be on and off the throttle (varied throttle). Or, take a break once in a while (motor off) for 5 min at a time, to cool the motor. Lastly, if you know you're gonna do a long run at top speed, do a plug chop, and adjust your carb to run a little more rich at full throttle. Keep in mind, the air cooled motor runs it's hottest and leanest at WOT, and is where the damage is done.....as you had found out *cry*. Hope this helps Aloha.....

Well, i picked up a new piston and rings...honed the cylinder...and got it all together with the help of a friend. Took it out a few times cruizin...then took it out the other night trying to keep up w/ my friend on his turbo gsxr1000 and seized again haha. Dammit, I gotta stop riding w/ faster bikes.
ride safe guys!!

you might have it running too lean. or if the injector is still intact, it may need to be blocked off & use premix. Injector = remember to blip the throtle every couple minits. Premix = pull in the clutch & coast a bit (let the rpm's drop), then back on the throtle.
