POR 15 home page por15.com/here is a link to all the tank sealer info por15.com/Portals/0/uploads/Files/fuel%20tank%20sealer%20pdf.pdfCheck out all the other cool products they have. Ive personaly used about 1/2 of thier products & am verry pleased with them all. Gell coat is a fiberglass sealer / UV coating! Im not sure what your thoughts or qusetion is about? I dont think it would work for sealing a tank , if thats what your asking?

Thanks for the links *thumbup*
What did you do to prep (removing any rust) the inner tank prior to sealing with Por 15?
In regards to Gel Coat as a sealer, my bro is very familiar with using fiberglass and is what sparked his inquiry.
"I dont think it would work for sealing a tank , if thats what your asking?"
Exactly what I was asking, thanks. You think that the gas will attack the Gel Coat and eventually break it down?

YES...... It might. It disscolored the fender on my friends VW, & it was just a spill on the gel coat. (it was white) He didnt think it would hurt anything if he left it till he got home. He forgot about it for a fiew days, then when he was washing the car he noticed that it had turned a yellow color & it would not buff out.
As for your tank, it only had a couple speckels of rust. So it didnt need any extra step.
If your brothers tank has a lot of rust: Get 15 -24 inches of small chain & drop it in the tank. (something with links roughly the size of a penny) Shake the hell out of the tank, trying to make sure it slides over every inch of the inside of the tank.... you may need to rince the tank once or twice during the process. To get it out you can shake the hell out of it untill the chain starts to fall out, or use a (cant rember the name of the tools) flexable magnet tool or the one with the fingers. (I can get you a pic of the tools if nessacery.)

My tank was pretty rusty and i couldnt get too far without clogging the petthingy even after a decent cleanout...I finaly went to the bike shop and bought a product called "cream" its like a plastic epoxy that will coast and harden to the tank internaly and seal small pin holes..I love it. it has an acid to disolve rust ad help break it loose a cleaner, and the cream its self. Dont do like me and use the stuff but not drain the excess...I was in ahurry to ride my lil beast to work oneday..HAHA well i saw it was dry and went nuts that morning puting it together and on the bike ( i didnt get the extra non hardend cream out of the take like the instructions said. Well i rode down the road filled it up and head to work only to lose some power..i was thinking the filter was stopping up so i stopped cleaned it out real fast the took off again. got about another mile then it started to slow i kept fighting it only to have it stop on me. well turned out i melted the piston by running it lean. the cream made its way to my petthingy and starved me just enught...Booo thats what i get for not stopping and for not doing the last step and getting the unhardend cream out...anyways its geat stuff and worth doing on even a new steel tank.........Hal

hey, once we had a tank and we just used the rust remover and the chain deal and then just rinsed with gas and was fine., not to crazy about putting the gel in there, in my opinion its like painting over rust. still might rust underneath. just my thoughts

If you falow all the steps on the POR 15, The inside of the tank will never be able to rust again. (Unless you damage the tank. IE: weld on it, using a torch on it, or have a serious crash. Small dents wont cause it chip off.
Go check out thier site! They have some of the most awsome products Ive ever used!
F.Y.I. Im NOT a sales rep for them, nor do I get any kick back for promoting thier products. I am in no way asociated or afiliated with them in any way.
Just passing along what Ive learned through the years. I have used sevral difrant products & brands & POR 15 is by far the best. That goes for all thier products Ive tryed.
