The first time I saw a YSR...it was in the summer of 87. I was at the lights at a major intersection, sitting in the vet I saw the little sports bike go by. Wow wow!! Street legal mini sport bike WOW what someone could do with that thing! I WANT ONE!!! 20 years later I got one. OK so here we go... This is what i wanted the bike to look like - a YSR Yamaha bike but custom. The red and white to me says YSR. The fairings especially the head light I don't like - never did. I don't really like the fairings at all - but I know most of you do. I think it makes the bike look to cheap. I know, I am crazy. Now what is the cheapest way to build this bike? Find one in the best shape. that's what I think. So I found one in town (I got lucky). $3,000 CND with 15 km. Yeah 15 km that's right. So called brand new. I cut off the grips right away because I didn't like how they felt. I know I am crazy. Here are the pics... Thanks, crazy1

Ok, got the bike but its a 50! WHAT TO DO?? DT, DERBI YZ and so on!! (must keep bike streetable) YA! looked at ysr 80 but too beet or too much$! for me! OK! Talk to T.C.R and let them talk me into a ysr 80 motor but they didn't have one! So, I called my buddy Pit Bull Todd to get me one off ebay, 2 months later I got one! Aint she nice!! ( wow what a piece of junk!) The guy said that it has 3000 km (2GX Japanese motor) Open it up and it looked really good stock piston! No play! Got my gear head friends to look at it, they said the same thing Hone it! Ring it! So I polished and painted the 50&80 I tested the 80 pipe & carb ( OK, this motor turn at 7 or 8000 most of its life now it turns at 12000++ do the math!!) It seemed to vibrate a little to much!! 30 km later Pit Bull Todd took a spin and tore the crank right out of it!!! YA I know it could have been me but, I was glad it was him, so now I can brake his balls Now what?? Rebuild in house or Salinas?? Why T.C.R? Because they have the whole package, been in business for 20 years plus and I like talking to the girls. Ok these are the pics when I received it and when I sent it off to Salinas T.C.R. P.S. Calamari built it from the bottom up and didn't put a scratch on it. Very Good, they built it as fast and reliable as they could for the street. (note to self must build BLASTER) GEAR HEAD SAYING: GO BIG OR GO HOME!!! « Last Edit: Feb 23, 2007, 5:11pm by crazy1 » Link to Post - Back to Top Logged airdreams1 Administrator -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you have the head & cilender painted when it went to TCR? If so did they mention that that will cause over heating problems? Link to Post - Back to Top Logged -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks, Lance crazy1 New Member -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes the head and carb were painted. The block was glass beated when it went to TCR. Yes they suggest not to paint the head because it retains heat, VERY LITTLE HEAT. But it shouldn't be a problem. In The past years I've never had a problem with the head being painted on other two-storkes I've built. Ceramic coating is another story. (like the pipe) I have had problems with ceramic coated pipes it seems to retain to much heat for long distance riding. But for drag racing that's another story. (This is what I have found, BUT NOT TO SAY THAT I AM RIGHT!!) PS. Thanks Lance for the R1 tip. Love to bench race. Thanks CRAZY1

Now its a 80! So what about the rest of the bike? Well, what to do crazy1! Ok, get all the go fast parts! I went with TCR go fast parts, and all the parts that were discontinued I got off ebay. Like the Fox shock at $450us+ But its new! (note too self keep the cost down) Pretty much got it all! I THINK! Still working on some parts like 4 piston caliper. I keep my eye on Yahoo Japan. The motor is all most a mirror finish. I guess I will polish all of the Billet! The work to polish all of this is very time consuming, as you know. I will take it to the last step just before the mirror finish. Once the bike is together I will take it to the mirrored finish. How the frame! (I told you, some of you would not like this) Well, IF IT DON'T GO then CHROME IT!! I shaved off all cowl frame mounts, oil, kick stand switch you get it! BECAUSE, I don't like it! So I did it my way! YA I know I'm crazy.. Here are the cut up pics!! OH relax, Its just a bike, is it?? GEAR HEAD SAYING: IF IT DON'T GO! CHROME IT!!

Well by this point Me and Paris have had the bike together and apart to many times and still can not decided on the GP Bike look, Jet Bike look, Street Fighter look, or The Chopper look! YA, I KNOW! LOOK DOGS At this point it’s becoming to pretty for me! I like BLACK do you know what I mean? One of my cars is blue but I always wanted it BLACK! NOTE TOO SELF: (YOU SAID THAT RED SAYS YSR?? YOU SAID STOCK BUT CUSTOM??? AND YOU SAID THAT PARIS LOOKS GOOD IN RED RIGHT? …YES, I DID!!!) NOTE TOO READER: (I TOLD YOU I WAS CRAZY!!) OK!! SO PRETTY WE GO!!! Made up a box out of mirror Stainless to keep the electronics and wires out of the way. (For that somewhat clean look) Took 12v signals (small) and squeezed in 6v bulbs with Silicone and Solider. Like you do! Made up some brackets to stretch the taillight and signals. That’s Paris my daughter in the picture She seems to think that the stock fender looks better! Well ME and Paris are still polishing nuts, bolts; aluminum rear sets YOU GET IT!! But here is some of the stuff we have done… P.S I have been waiting over 2 months at this point for the frame and parts maybe they had to send out for the CHROME?

Talk to TinMan on the phone, one cool dog. P.S need pics of upper TinMan Ok, back on track, billet aluminum clip – ons ($99.95 US) and billet aluminum quarter turn throttle ($99.95 US) got them from TCR I put bar ends on both sides but they had to be turned down to fit. The inside ID of the bars are smaller so the standard bar ends won’t fit. Rose at TCR liked that idea they can do it for you. ;D Fork Caps, I really like the looks of the air valve Fork Caps but I have these for now. My buddy made them up for me their just billet caps stuck on with clear silicone adhesive. I really like silicone good to stick, good for vibration, and comes off easy. Then I polish the parts up. Ok got the frame back looks ok but there are still holes in the side of the frame. You know those 25 cent holes just up from the pegs, I couldn’t have made it any clearer the holes had to be filled in I don’t like them. “Yeah I know I’ll get over it” “Yeah I know I’ll do something with it” “ I will just take a couple more sniffs of silicone and I’ll be ok” ;D But seriously here is the pics so far, please keep in mind that all of the billet has been man handled and is very dirty when its finished it will look as good as the chrome P.S. That’s my buddies a.k.a. Tmas Pitbull Todd’s bike, I’ve been helping him with his project and I can’t wait until he is finished with it its going to be wicked man I mean wicked ;D I love those ZB’s buddy ;D For now I’m working on the rear billet sets and trying very hard to make them look as good as those G craft ones (Remember I said try!) NOTE TO SELF: “I think I’m going to have to build one of those Z B for my self $$$$$
